How to Deal With Other People’s Shizzle Around Money

It is often the most frustrating thing, my client’s talk of, when they are on their path to self-discovery and expansion – that their partner/family/work colleagues/neighbours/society at large are seriously affecting their good vibe mojo, by constantly raining on their parade, and trying to project their limiting beliefs about money quite literally all over them.

This may look like for you, an eyeroll from your partner when you finally step into your power, and have more empowered conversations around money, instead of joining into the conversations at the school gates about the rising prices of energy bills. That eyeroll then escalates into passing comments about you ‘becoming full of yourself (always a sign that you are leaning into your badass energy) and can quickly become a real cause of contention in a relationship or family dynamic.

This is the blessing and the curse about personal development, you can end up feeling like a square peg in a round hole, when you do the work on yourself, to suddenly notice that everyone else around you aren’t doing the same. You are awake and they are still very much asleep.

Even if it isn’t actually causing issues, it can still make you feel isolated or detached as you think and feel differently to everyone around you.

So what can you do?

Firstly, understand where the resistance from others comes from:

A – You changed, they didn’t. They are still running the same programming and conditioning patterns that they grew up with and don’t know that there is another way. They are still trying to reconnect with the older, less enlightened, more familiar version of you by reminding you of who you used to be. Let them know its ok to allow you to grow and evolve, you will be the one to show others what is possible for them too, when your reality starts to match and uplevel into the new ‘anything is possible’ vision that you hold.

B – They want to keep you safe. Usually, eyerolls are meant with good intentions and love. Family and partners don’t want you to experience judgement or shade from others, so they are instead point out your ‘too much’ behaviour to keep you ‘humble’ and accepted by your ‘tribe’, community or friendship group.

C – You are mirroring an insecurity that have back to them. It could be that they fear they will loose you, if you ‘outgrow them’, or maybe they wish that they could have the same uplevel and opportunities that you will no doubt manifest from your new positive frame, but they don’t feel good enough.

Secondly, continue to hold the vision for yourself. Your soul has ignited a need for change, and a desire to evolve, so that you can create a new reality for yourself. It may be that not everyone who is currently in your life, will join you in the next chapter, and THAT IS OK! Some people are only meant to be in your life for a season.

For the ones you want to take with you, let them know that it is safe for you to do, be and have more. They will respond to your energy and confidence. If you are super clear on your intentions and boundaries, they will fall in line naturally. Don’t feel the need to educate or convince them of your way of thinking. You cannot ‘save’ people who don’t want to be saved and there is a lot of community living in a conditioned mindset – let them be in their bubble and you can venture out into the unknown, creating your own path.

My continual thirst for growth and wanting an extraordinary life has led to many eyerolls over the years. At first I tried to bring everyone over to my side of the fence, which just led to lots of frustrating conversations where I felt I had to defend my view on ‘you create your own economy’ and probably made me a super annoying party guest when I didn’t want to join in on conversations moaning about the government/the economy/heating prices and petrol costs. Some people levelled up with me, and even asked for book recommendations and the link for my podcast, others I just stopped talking about these things to (because they were never going to get it AND THAT’S OK) and others, just faded out of my life entirely.

You get to decide who gets to join you, and not everyone will make it, to your new boujee upgraded life.
