How I Saved Hundreds and MADE Thousands on my Upcoming Family Holiday 💸

Holidays can be super expensive, and sometimes seen as a luxury that you can do without, when times are tough. For me however, as a self-confessed 'gypsy at heart', with continual wanderlust, they are a neccessity!

As a large family with 5 children, (and number 6 on the way), and a Money Mentor for fabulous women in business, I know being resourceful is the key to ensuring that we can see the world, without having to compromise to make it happen. I am probably the only Money Mentor who will never tell you cut out the things that bring you joy, to hit your saving goals! 

Even when I became a millionaire in my 20s, I was still the girl who knew the best rates on a credit card, the ultimate cash-back sites or the companies that offered the best loyalty reward schemes. 

With that in mind, and just a matter of days until we jet off to California for our latest family holiday, I wanted to share with you a few of the hacks that I leveraged, to save hundreds on our trip and even make THOUSANDS along the way too. 

1 - I set an intentional spending plan for the trip, and allocated savings each month towards that goal. I transferred them to a high interest savings account, and made money on the compounding interest. 

2 - I waited for our flights to go on sale (savings hundreds) and then booked through an airline that I am loyal to, so that I could collect reward points for future travel. 

3 - The airline automatically allocated luggage to all members of our parties (including my 2 year old Daughter!) which bumped the price up by a whopping £800! I booked Economy Light tickets instead, and added the luggage afterwards as an upgrade, that we actually needed. This saved me £600. 

4 - I booked one of our hotels through my travel subscription, which saved me money and earned me loyalty points that I can use to offset the cost of future travel. To find out how, send me a DM on Instagram.

6 - I signed up for a company newsletter, to receive a discount on the airport parking (whilst springing for the upgraded meet-and-greet service), saving £40.

7 - I paid for all of the holiday expenses using my Chase debit card  which earned me £15 cashback every month that I spent more than £1,500 using that card. I could have also used a credit card that offers similar incentives. 

8 - I shopped around, saving money and earning cashback on tickets for days out and excursions. 

9 - I bought ahead outfits for the kids using the H&M app, which earned me frequent £3 loyalty credits, free postage and gave me first access to sales, and exclusive discounts. You can join the app here (FOR FREE) and receive an automatic 10% discount on your order, when you use this link

10 - I tied in my fabulous Wealthy Woman California Retreat into our trip, which essentially paid for the trip and more. I appreciate tying in work with family time might not be for everyone, but for us it works, as the kids get to see me pursue my passion AND enjoy a family trip of a lifetime.
